Systems of equations

Systems of equation is when 2 or more linear functions come together. If they are parallel, there is no solution, if they intersect, there is 1 solution, if they are on top of each other, they have infinite solutions.

SUBSTITUTION METHOD:

Solve the first equation to find y, with x on the other side, plug in y into he y in the 2nd equation, find exact value of x, then plug x into the first or second equations to find exact value of y.

ELIMINATION METHOD:

Find coefficients of Y:

Multiply the first equation by the 1st coefficient and the 2nd equation by the 2nd coefficient to get equations 3 and 4. Subtract the 3rd equation from the 4th equation to find value of x. Plug x into equation 2 or 1 to find exact value of y.

GRAPH METHOD:

Graph the 2 equations, find the coordinate point in which they intercept, that is your x and y.

CROSS MULTIPLICATION METHOD:

When equations: a1x+b1y+c1=0, a2x+a2y+c2=0
